I just wanna remind yall that your Tumblr funnymen use botched aave to sound funny, because- yall think Black People talk funny. The end.
I'm very glad to hear that Beyond the Spider-Verse is being delayed, but I'm starting to notice some misinformation being spread and I feel like people should know some things about BTSV before making judgements online.
(disclaimer: I haven't worked on Spider-Verse so I'm working with information that's currently available to the public)
It's very important to know that even if the studios came to an agreement with the unions right now BTSV still would have been delayed (just not indefinitely). The reason for this is being
- According to Hailee Steinfeld (Gwen's VA) she hadn't recorded any lines for the movie before the strike happened. From this we can assume that the same applies for the rest of the cast
- One of the anonymous animators from the Vulture article stated that the only progress the movie made was "exploration or tests that were done before the movie was split into two parts."
- While payment issues are unfortunately common in the film industry, increasing wages won't automatically make people work faster
- The last two Spider-Verse films each took around 4-5 years to make, assuming this film will be of the same quality and scale it realistically would have been delayed to AT LEAST 2025 no matter what
Obviously we should support the ongoing strikes but a lot of issues regarding this films production and release date aren't as clear cut as "pay people more"
